What Are The DMR Talkgroups in PA and How Should I Use Them?

3142 – Pennsylvania Statewide CALLING Talkgroup – Many repeaters in PA have this talkgroup set up as “static” (full-time) access. Monitor this TG for calls, or use it to initiate calls. But then please QSY (move) to another talkgroup (e.g. PA-TAC, your Regional TG, TAC 312, 313, etc.) ASAP after the QSO begins. PA Regional TGs are listed below. REGULAR NET: The PA Digital Check-In at 8pm PA time every Tuesday.

31420 – PEMA/ACS ARES EmComm – PA Emergency Mgmt Agency/Aux Comm Svc / Amateur Radio Emergency Services. If needed, activated by PEMA/ACS Harrisburg or other PEMA-designated NCS. REGULAR NET: None at present.

31421 – PA TAC – PA’s “Talk Around Channel”, and is one of the TGs you may QSY / move to “talk around” PA Statewide 3142. It is PTT / dynamic “user” activated and not full-time on many PA DMR repeaters.

31422 – Western PA Regional TG – Used mainly in Western PA, this is another appropriate PA talkgroup to move to once you initiate contact on PA statewide (3142). REGULAR NET: Wednesdays at 730pm.

31423 – Central PA TG – Used mainly in Central PA, this is another appropriate PA talkgroup to move to once you initiate contact on PA statewide (3142). This TG is static as “Local 2” on many Central/South PA repeaters. REGULAR NET: Sundays at 9pm.

31424 – Northeast PA (NEPA) TG – Used mainly in Northeast PA, this is another appropriate PA talkgroup to move to once you initiate contact on PA statewide (3142). The WR3IRS.com repeaters in Eastern PA and the K1NRA repeater have this TG full-time as “Local2” on DMR Slot2. REGULAR NET: The NEPA Net every Weds at 1pm.

31425 – Digital Cross-Mode TG – Accessible via hotspots on DMR, Fusion, and D-Star… and also on the K1NRA repeater. More info at http://www.pennlinkgroup.com:8082/main/page3/ REGULAR NET: None at present.

31426 – East PA – Recently approved as the newest full-time TG in PA.  Currently carried as a static TG on the K1NRA & K3PDR repeaters.  REGULAR NET: None at present, but likely to begin soon.

314259 – Southeast PA – Used mainly in Southeast PA, this is another appropriate PA talkgroup to move to once you initiate contact on PA statewide (3142). REGULAR NET: None at present.
